In 2021, a change allowed more people to claim the EAITC. This is no longer available for 2024 tax returns. Per the IRS these are the current rules for claiming the EITC without a qualifying child, you must meet all of them:

    1. Meet the EITC basic qualifying rules
    2. Live in the in the United States for more than half the tax year
    3. Not be claimed as a qualifying child on anyone else's tax return
    4. Be at least age 25 but under age 65

For more information refer to the following IRS site:

New changes expanded the credit to more people for 2021
