It depends,  therapy visits can be included as a medical expense if they are primarily to alleviate or prevent a physical or mental disability or illness. See more detail below on what medical expenses are deductible. The IRS allows you to deduct preventative care, treatment, surgeries, and dental and vision care as qualifying medical expenses. You can also deduct visits to psychologists and psychiatrists. Medical expenses are the costs of diagnosis, cure, mitigation, treatment, or prevention of disease, and the costs for treatments affecting any part or function of the body. Medical care expenses must be primarily to alleviate or prevent a physical or mental disability or illness. They don't include expenses that are merely beneficial to general health.
