Hi,

As I was filing my 2019 taxes, I was asked if box 2 was filled/box 7 checked on my 2018 1098-t form. I don't have access to that document right now because it was online through my college's portal, and I've graduated and don't have access to it. Is there a way to tell from my previous tax returns whether that box was checked? I don't think it was, seeing as my tuition and aid amounts for 2019 seemed accurate, but I want to be sure. Would this box being checked have any effect on my eligibility to receive AOTC?

Look at your 2018 form 8863, line 22(3) has a yes/no box checked for that.

But it doesn't matter. The 1098-T is only any informational document. You claim the tuition credit, or report scholarship income, based on your own financial records, not the 1098-T.
