after looking back I noticed I did not enter my husbands 1098T for 2017. box 2 amt billed for tuition and box 5 scholarships are filled in. Is there any need to amend? Box 2 is higher amt than Box 5

    Yes, you should amend it

If you have paid out of pocket any qualified education expenses ( after the scholarship), you should have filed the Form 1098-T to claim an education tax break.

If you have filed with TurboTax, click here: Amend 2017

If you did not file with TurboTax, you can still amend it with TurboTax.  Here are the steps:

    1.  You will need to purchase a past year TurboTax desktop program here Past Years Products and

    2.  Recreate your return in exactly the way as to how it was filed, then

    3.  Go through the amendment process by following these steps :

In the TurboTax program, across the top, go to

    • Federal Taxes
    • Other Tax Situations
    • Other Tax Forms- Amend a return
    • select Start to follow prompts
