On fellowship for degree. Receive stipend and tuition paid.  Tuition included in box 1 and 5 on 1098T; tuition paid directly to school yet I am taxed on it.  Can I deduct as an expense from self-employment as education is related directly to my profession?

How are you taxed on it?  If the amount in box 5 and box 1 are the same, then the box 5 amount is tax free because it was used for qualified expenses (the tuition in box 1).

So, no, you cannot deduct the tuition as a business expense.
