IRS allows QEE to be allocated between 1099Q calculations and AOC QEE.  TT is using 100% of the 1099Q total distribution to eliminate taxable income leaving less than $4000 to claim for AOC.  How can I adjust the Q amount down to result in some taxable income and maximize the AOC to $4000?

Go through the education section again. When you get to the screen that says “Here’s your Education Summary”.  Click edit next to “Education Information”. When you get to the screen titled “Amount Used to Calculate Education Deduction or Credit”, verify the amount you want to use or change it to $4000.
