Amending 2018 return for tuition and fees deduction. Education expenses section still says form 8917 for 2018 not available? Where it shows my best credit/deduction

It is not available yet.

TurboTax is still in the process of updating the form for 2018 and as such, you will have to wait to file your amended return for 2018 if you wanted to utilize the Tuition & Fees Deduction.

I recommend signing up at the link below to get an email when the form is available in TurboTax. Updates are being made now to the 2018 program.

I'm not sure that's correct. My 2019 software (desktop deluxe) has form 8917 and I find it on the internet https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f8917.pdf

The Tuition and Fess deduction (TFD) was reinstated retroactively for 2018. My 2018 software (desktop deluxe) says it's fully up to date, but still doesn't have form 8917.

I think the problem is that users can't amend, for the TFD, using 2018 software. They'll have to use 2019 software or do it by hand. Could you please have TT look into this, and give poster more specific instructions
