American Opportunity Credit Eligibility

I am wondering if I am eligible for the American Opportunity Credit. I Graduated with my AA after 3 years then transferred to a four year college to get a bachelors degree while also transferring all of the credits I gained from my AA. The program I am in requires four years of school and I am in my final year, graduating this fall. So in total, I have 6 and a half years of college credits, 1 AA degree, and 3 and a half years of work towards a bachelor degree. Am I eligible for this credit?

    Yes, you are eligible.

The simple answer is: if you don't have a bachelor's degree yet, you haven't completed 4 years of post secondary education and are still eligible for the AOTC.  But, there is a limit of 4, to the number of times you and/or your parents can claim the AOTC on your education.  The 4 times rule usually stops you before the 4 year rule does.
