American Opportunity Tax Credit - foreign undergrad enrolling into US grad program

Want to know if for my specific case, if I can apply for American Opportunity Tax Credit.

I completed my first 4 years of post-secondary education and earned a bachelors degree abroad (not US citizen/ resident back then). Now I'm enrolled into a US grad program while a Citizen.

Can I still apply for the tax credit? Do the 4 years mentioned in the conditions refer to 4 years spent in only the US education system? Or 4 years in the foreign education system still counts? Thanks

You are not eligible for the American Opportunity Tax Credit.  4 years in the foreign education system still counts.
