Are there any credits or deductions that a college student can take if they are claimed as a dependent BUT pay their own student loan and college expenses?
A college student is claimed as a dependent by his parents. However, he works and pays his own student loan payments and other college expenses. Are there any credits (LLC, AOC) or deductions (student loan interest) that they can take even if they are a dependent? It seems unfair if none are available to him even though he is working and paying himself.
