Books and Supplies paid out-of-pocket

Do I have to out in an exact amount for out of pocket money that I paid books and supplies required by my classes? Or am I supposed to estimate? Will the IRS need actual receipts for those?

    You are supposed to put in an exact amount. You do not send actual receipts to the IRS, but you do need to keep your receipts in case the IRS examines your return.
