Question

Can I claim AOTC for grad school, if 4-year bachelor's degree was not claimed for tax purposes?

I am pursuing a graduate degree, for which I received 1098T from my school. I have never claimed American Opportunity Tax Credit in the past. I am a foreign national (on student visa), who got married to a US citizen in 2020 and have been living in US long enough to be considered resident for tax purposes. Now in Turbo tax if I state that I have NOT received a 4-year degree, I get a tax credit, but if I mark that I DID receive my 4-year degree  and no AOTC, it doesn't gives me any tax credit. I received my 4-year degree from a foreign country, before coming to the US. How is my foreign degree affecting my tax credit in the US
