Can I claim tuition fees for a fasfa eligible school in a different country without a Federal ID number?

You can claim Education Expenses without a Federal ID number, but may only be eligible for the Lifetime Learning Credit (max $2000) rather than the American Opportunity Credit (max $2500).

You may be able to get the schools Federal ID number by contacting them or online.

In TurboTax, when you indicate you don't have a 1098-T, choose 'I qualify for an exception' (screenshot) and you can enter Tuition on the next page.

Don't forget to add Additional Expenses such as Books and Required Fees.
