Can I deduct $9000 paid for trucking school for an adult (not dependent ) child?

I paid approximately $9000 for trucking school for an adult child to get his CDL class A license. Can I deduct this cost ?

    If the education you paid for is not for a Dependent on your return, sorry, you can't deduct the education expense on your tax return.  However, you can claim an adult child on your return if they meet the qualifications. 

     

    Here are the requirements for Claiming a Dependent.

     

    If your son files his own return, though, he can claim the Education Expenses, even though he did not pay them himself (can be paid by grants, scholarships, loans, etc.)
