Can i deduct expenses for a notary prep class (class fee, books, fees for notary registration with the state?)

the class is through a 3rd party, but is signed up through LSU's continuing education portal.  The notary test is given there as well.

Q. : Can I use expenses for a notary prep class (class fee, books, fees for notary registration with the state) to calculate a tuition credit?

A. Only if LSU will be issuing you a form 1098-T for the tuition paid. So, probably no. If you do get a 1098-T, use only the amount in box 1 (books, fees for notary registration don't count).
