Question

Can I deduct loan interest paid on my camper trailer (2nd home) that includes cooking, eating, and sleeping facilities? If so, how? I didn't get a 1098.

The loan provider (my bank) indicated that the interest paid on a consumer loan is not tax deductible.  But the Turbotax support documents indicate this mobile home should be treated as an immobile home, with regards to deducting loan interest.

Yes, you can deduct loan interest on your camper (2nd home). The IRS lets you deduct your mortgage interest, but only if you itemize deductions. You have the same taxable rights as all homeowners in declaring deductible interest and property taxes (if any).

To enter your mortgage interest if you don't have a 1098 Mortgage Interest form, enter your mortgage information as if you received a form 1098. See Where do I enter my 1098 mortgage interest statement?
