Question

Can I deduct our internet service if it was required for educational purposes due to COVID?

We had to have internet installed in order for our 3 children to do school, as well as my college courses. The school district had promotions with several internet companies, but non of these covered the area we lived.

No, it is not deductible as an education expense, nor does it qualify for the education credits.

No. Primary and secondary school expenses are not deductible.

Internet is a qualified expense for the American Opportunity credit, if it wa required and you did not already have it.
