Can I report tuition if I did not get a 1098T

My son enrolled it college but did not complete the semester. I paid for it but did not get a refund

Yes, you can report your out of pocket expenses as long as they were for qualified education expenses as outlined in the link below.

 

Qualifying education expenses

 

You can enter this information by logging back into TurboTax and going to the Federal interview section from the black panel on the left. 

  1. Select Deductions & Credits 
  2. Select Expenses and Scholarships (Form 1098-T) and click edit 
  3. When you see Your Education Expenses Summary, select Edit to the right of your name.
  4. The next screen will say Here's Your Education Summary (or you will need to select Add A Student if you have not entered any tuition information yet.)
  5. The following screen will ask if you received a 1098-T.  Go ahead and select no.  You will then be asked to see if you meet an exception.  On this screen, mark I qualify for an exception and you will be able to enter your tuition fees.

Follow the prompts to enter the rest of the information and expenses as applicable.
