Can I write off my school expenses if I was not a full time student? I was a part time student and my school sent me 1098-T forms but I am not sure if i can

Yes. The requirement for the American Opportunity Tax Credit is to have been at least half-time.

There is also the Lifetime Learner's Credit and Tuition and Fees deduction where expenses count when even less than half-time.

Enter the 1098-T in the Education Section under Deductions & Credits and carefully answer the interview questions.

 According to the IRS:

"The standard for what is half of the normal full-time workload is determined by each eligible educational institution."
