Question

Can mandatory travel to campus out of state as part of curriculum, be added to "Books and materials required to be purchased from school" for 1098-T education expenses?

My university requires me to travel to another state to complete a 3-day class. This includes a flight ticket, hotel booking, and car rental just to be able to attend the class. (Example, mandatory class in San Francisco, but I live on the East Coast)

No.  Travel is not a qualified education expense.
