Can my daughter claim the education credit if the 1099-Q is in my name?  I used her 529 plan for part of her expenses but not all. I do not qualify for the education credit and do not get the benefit of my daughter as a dependent since I am subject to AMT.  How do I report the 1099-Q and 1098-T on my return?  I need to somehow split the 1098-T so that my daughter can get the education credit (but I need to report it too since I have the 1098-Q for some of the expenses).

No, she cannot receive an education credit if she qualifies as your dependent.

Your child cannot claim herself as a dependent if someone else is qualified to claim her. Your ability to benefit from claiming her doesn't impact the fact that you can claim her. You can't shift the benefit to her due to your own high income. She must be eligible to claim herself.

Because she cannot claim herself as a dependent, she cannot benefit from education tax credits. These tax credits are not available if not claiming oneself as a dependent.

Your Own Exemption

You can take one exemption for yourself unless you can be claimed as a dependent by another taxpayer. If another taxpayer is entitled to claim you as a dependent, you can't take an exemption for yourself even if the other taxpayer doesn't actually claim you as a dependent.

Of course, I am assuming that she doesn't provide more than half of her own support. Please review that.  But your income and question suggest that you are only trying to move the credit because you couldn't benefit from it and were considering her your dependent...
