Question

Can't enter pre-k tuition as a deduction despite qualifying. None of the auto-answers explain why and TurboTax won't answer without more money. Can anyone help, please?

When I get to the dependent care "do you qualify" page, it gives the option to select full-time student, disabled or none of the above. Bu not employed. So checking none of the above punts me to the deductions overview page. We qualify to claim for preschool tuition.

It doesn't give you the employed option because your should have entered that earlier (W-2 or self employment).

If you are self-employed you have to show self-employment income with a net profit.   If you are self-employed but had a loss you will not be able to get the childcare credit.
