Can tuition to a private Christian School be deducted on either Federal or Vermont State Tax Returns?

    Unfortunately, you can't take a deduction, on either your federal or Vermont tax returns.  No tax benefits are available for these expenses.

    Education expenses for grades K-12 generally can't be deducted on your federal income tax return, nor can they be used for claiming credits.

    A few states allow deductions or credits for K-12 education, and/or homeschooling expenses.  If your state has such a deduction or credit available, you'll be prompted to enter your information when you prepare your state return.

    As far as Vermont state income tax breaks, there don't appear to be any that might apply.  Please see TAX ADJUSTMENTS AND CREDITS for more information.
