Question

Claiming myself for the first time and my refund is really low. not sure if i am doing things correctly. can someone help me? I went to school for 6 months in 2016.

i work full time, started paying on student loans. live with my parents.

Make sure you add up all your expenses as a student , including Loan payments books etc. Also if you have health insurance is a factor so be sure to go over your tax return expense and health insurance section carefully . Sometimes also when you start a job , if you claimed yourself as a dependent You will have less taken from your paycheck , but also less of a tax return and vise versa if you do not claim yourself as a dependent you will likely have more taken from your paycheck , but a higher tax return .
