Several people are contributing to paying for my daughter's college expenses, in addition to our 529 money. However, we are getting the 1098-T and (of course) the 1099-Q. She is our dependent. When I answer the questions in TurboTax we are getting the $2500 tax credit.  But, I'm not sure if in all fairness we are supposed to get this credit. It seems that to not get the credit I would need to not enter any information regarding her college attendance and I'm not sure if that's legal.

If she is your dependent only you can claim the education credit. It doesn’t matter who actually paid those expenses.
