I already received my 2019 Federal Tax Refund.  I had forgot to put 2019 College Tuition payments into my TurboTax form.

 

Can I add those for my 2020 Tax Return even though they are from 2019 along with the 2020 tuition payments, too?

    Education expenses paid in 2019 can only be entered on a 2019 tax return.  To add the expenses you will have to amend the 2019 tax return.

     

    An amended tax return, Form 1040X, can only be printed, signed, dated and mailed by you to the IRS, it cannot be e-filed. The IRS will take up to 4 months to process the amended tax return. 


    On the Tax Home web page when the Form 1040X for amending a 2019 tax return becomes available there will be a link - Amend (change) return
