"Did you pay for books or materials to attend school?" If "Yes" (in my case), is it money that was used out-of-pocket or money from tuition/grants?

I've reached the point on my return where it asks to "Enter Your Education Expenses:" Are the "books and materials required" and "not required to be purchased from school" sections supposed to include out-of-pocket purchases or only tuition/grant-related purchases?

A. Both. Those entries should include all course materials, including a required computer, regardless of the source of the money that paid for them.
