The latter shows, in bold type, "Don't include amounts already listed on a W-2 or other tax form."

what amount is in Box 1 and what amount is in Box 5?

On the screen that asks about scholarships and grants, the amount from box 5 of the 1098-T should already be listed on the first line. See the screen shot below. Do not enter it again.
