Don’t know if I did my 1040 correctly

So I did put all the information, and how my box 5 is higher then box 2 and put the necessary information like how much it went into with school supplies and books and stuff of that nature. So I’m looking at it and it shows 0.00. I assume that’s a bug? How do I know if it went through completely and actually have the real information or is that the real information? Thanks.

If you are referring to Form 1098-T, Box 5 is for Scholarships or grants. Box 1 is where the amount paid for qualified tuition and related expenses would be reported.

When scholarships exceed expenses, not only are there no expenses to claim an education credit, there may be income to report for the scholarship or grant exceeding the expenses.
