Question

Education credit - I am qualified for a Lifetime Learning Credit up to $2,000. Then it says I am not qualified here? No scholarships, over $2k expense?

I am not anyone's dependent.  I have no scholarships, or grants.  I have a net education expense over $2k, why is it saying I am not eligible for any tax credit when I qualify for the Lifetime Learning credit.  I went to school part time and it is for a graduate degree which is covered.

Lifetime Learning Credit (LLC) is 20% of tuition paid. So, $2000 tuition paid will get you a $400 credit. The LLC is non refundable (you must have a tax liability to offset).

Otherwise, If you are eligible, you have answered  something wrong, in the interview. But, a lot of people are just not eligible. See Also see this TT FAQ https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/3383321-why-didn-t-i-get-a-credit-or-deduction-for-education-expen...

and

You must have a 1098-T (or qualify for an exception).

I paid over $4k for tuition in 2022 and another $500 in books, etc.  I haven't even put in my income yet so it isn't rejecting me based on my income.  I am filing as single. I didn't pay with anything except my credit card, no scholarships.  So I do not understand why it is saying I don't qualify for anything.  I've quadruple checked my information.  Everything is accurate, but it says I do not qualify for any Lifetime Learning Credit.  That can't be true I think there is something wrong with the website, or there is a reason I wouldn't get it that isn't listed?

Correction - I had two different jobs the one with less income is input (so there is a tax liability) and the one with the most income isn't put in yet (I haven't received the W-2) but I just don't understand why it says I don't qualify for a tax credit when I meet all of the requirements.
