I am trying to add my sons college expenses. I only lets me choose my husbands or my SSN. When I added all the info, it told me it does not count. I sent 2000.00 on schooling how do i not get a deduction for that?

You can only claim the tuition credit, if your son is your dependent. Be sure you entered him in the personal info section.

If you enter the wrong student, you'll have to delete all the info and start over. Go through the entire education interview until you reach a screen titled "Your Education Expenses Summary". Click delete next to the student's name. You'll then get the "Your Education Expenses Summary" screen again. Click the "Add a student" button.
