Why won’t Turbo Tax let me enter education expenses? It keeps stating ‘Education Expenses Area will be ready soon."

How are you preparing your return? Are you using Online TurboTax (web version) or desktop software (CD/download)? If the latter, it sounds like your program has not been updated. In that case, you need to run the program updater.

If you are using desktop software, is it for Windows or Mac?

If you are using Online TurboTax, is it Free Edition, Deluxe, Premier, etc.?

I’m using a download on a Mac. I couldn’t figure out how to update the program.

If your TurboTax is open, at the top TurboTax menu look in the dropdown for "Check for Updates."

See if that finds and downloads an update.

On a Mac, it should check for updates every time you launch TurboTax if you are connected to the Internet and tell you if there are any. So close the TurboTax program and reopen it. Does it find an update?

If neither of the above worked, then do this:

Quit the TurboTax program and restart your computer (especially important if you haven't restarted the computer since you installed the program.) Then open the TurboTax program. If there are any updates, you should be prompted to download them.

If you weren't prompted, then again try clicking the TurboTax menu at the top and then choosing "Check for Updates."
