Education Tax credit changed, no reason

My wife has not changed schools and is in the same program as 2019, but the credit that is being given is $30 for 2020 where in 2019 it was $386. In fact we did actually pay some of the tuition not taken out student loans. Am I entering something wrong or is that just the way it is.

Thanks for the help,

Doug

No one can see your screen or your tax return so we do not know what you have entered or what education credit you are asking about.   I general, a credit reduces the tax you owe.   If you do not owe much tax then the amount of the credit you can use is small.   Provide some details.

That's really not much difference.  It would only take a little change in your income and/or educational expenses. to see that result.  Review form 8863 and compare that form from 2019 to 2020.
