Eligible for 8863, but still wants me to finish 1098-T, how do I get past this?

If you pay any qualified tuition amount out of pocket, you are likely to qualify to claim an education credit by filing a Form 8863.  You should receive a Form 1098-T from the school.   If you did not receive a Form 1098-T for any reasons, you can still claim the credit by following these steps:

 

In TurboTax Free online edition,

 

  • After sign into your account and select Pick up where you left off
  • At the right upper corner, in the search box, type in 1098t and Enter 
  • Select Jump to form 1098T 
  • Follow prompts
