Expenses incurred before 529 beneficiary change.
My wife and I adopted 3 children 2 years ago, in addition to 1 child we already had at the time. We have 3 529 accounts in my name, hers, and our 1 son's. We didn't plan to withdraw from them until our oldest enters college in 2024. This year one of our children, that is not listed as a beneficiary on any of the accounts ended up attending a private K-12 school. Would it be allowed to change the beneficiary on an account and then withdrawal funds for expenses that already occurred (expenses and withdrawals would still occur in the same year.
