Filing taxes without 1098 - International University

Hello,

I am currently a student at a school in Prague, Czech Republic. My husband and I file jointly. I get student loans through FAFSA. The school number is G33004, which I got from https://ifap.ed.gov/ifap/fedSchoolCodeList.jsp.

When attempting to file, TurboTax indicated that I am able to receive the Lifetime Learning Credit, which I thought did not require EIN/federal ID number. I've tried putting all 0s, and all 9s, and TurboTax just says that it needs a valid EIN, even though I am eligible for Lifetime Learning Credit.

Edit: To clarify, I cannot get a 1098 from the school, and they have not been able to help me with this.

This has been a frequent question this year. So far, the answer has been: without an EIN for the school, you can't claim the education credit.
