Question

First-time college students. Only went for the fall year of 23. Don't want to use the American Opportunity Credit because it's only for a half of year. How do you do that

Before answering that question, be advised that it only takes $4000 of expenses to get the maximum $2500 ($1000 refundable) AOC credit.  Tuition, fees, books and even a computer are qualified expenses.

The AOC is 100% of the first $2000 and 25% of the 2nd $2000.  So, only $2000 of expenses gets you a $2000 credit ($800 refundable).

After completing the education section, Type letme (no space between let & me) in the search box. Then press enter. Then  click  on the link "jump to letme''.

TT will give you the option to select another tuition  credit.
