Form 8615 Rejected for FDI_8615Line7Box_Err

On form 8615, I have been rejected twice for "Reject Code FDI_8615Line7Box_Err". The initial message said "Please update the Federal 1040 product on or after March 19th, 2020. Then, please re-submit this return electronically." I deleted both the 1040 and 8615 forms and refilled them on the 19th only to be rejected again. Any word on a fix?

I am having the same issue.  I think the turbotax software is incorrectly checking Box 7 of Form 8615 and I cannot manually uncheck it.

The software needs to be fixed.

A update to fix this problem is expected to be released in a few weeks.

I tried submitting it twice and was rejected both times.  It looks like TT published a downloadable fix.  The problem is that I used the on-line version and didnt download the software.

Is there a fix for people who use the on-line version?

No but if you haven't paid for the online version yet, you can switch to the software version.

  1. Save your online return as a tax data file.
  2. Sign out of TurboTax Online.
  3. Install your 2019 TurboTax software.
    • If you have not purchased TurboTax Desktop software, select the product you need to complete your return.
    • Important: If your return includes a state, make sure you also install the corresponding state program(s), otherwise you'll get Error 539.
  4. Once installed, choose File then Open Tax Return in the software.
  5. Browse to where you saved your .tax2019 file, select it, and then select Open.
  6. If you get an error, delete your tax data file and repeat these steps from the beginning.
  7. Optional: Once you've confirmed that your online return opens properly in the software, you can clear your online return.

Same thing happened to one of my sons return. We submitted it twice and it got rejected.  I read this forum and re-did his taxes and re-submitted for a third time, this time it was accepted. What bothers me is that I had to pay twice for State e-file.
