Question

Grantor ID number entered into "Scholarships and Fellowships" section from 1098T is throwing error for NJ tax filing. Please advise.

Do you mean the "Filer's employer identification number" listed under their address on the 1098-T?

That should be their EIN and if there was no error on the federal return, I don't see why there would be for the state. 

 

Is this something else?

Yes, something to do with the formatting issue with the "Filer's employer identification number" that's input into NJ State forms. It auto corrects to XXX-XXX-XXX format with the dashes.  As part of "Fix Return", I updated it to XX-XXXXXXX manually and it worked. Thanks.
