Am I required to report my California College Promise Grant on my taxes since it is a fee waiver?

    No, you don't report the amount as income, but it may reduce the amount for which you can claim an education deduction or credit. 

     

    The amount may already be included in box 5 of your 1098-T form, but if it is not, and you are filing for an education credit or deduction, you should list the amount of the waiver as tax-free education assistance.
