Question

Hey I filed my grandkids for 2019 tax return. I received my stimulus check but only the $1200. I did not receive the extra $500 per child. Is anyone else having this problem ?

Yes, it is a known problem. The IRS is working on it.  But, in your case, if the parents claimed them in 2018, they may have gotten it instead.

The children must be under 17, as of 12-31-20 to be eligible.

If you don't get it this year, you'll get it next year. When you file your  2020 return in 2021, you will have the opportunity to report the amount of the stimulus check(s) you did receive, and if it was less than what you were entitled to, you will receive a credit on your 2020 tax return.
