Question

Hi! I was claimed as a dependent in 2020 but graduated school and am now on my own, I never received any stimulus. how do I get my check from January 2021?

You will be able to claim the Recovery Rebate Credit on your 2021 tax return for the amount of the third stimulus payment. TurboTax will ask you whether you received the stimulus payment. When you say you didn't, it will give you the credit. (This might not be working when TurboTax Online first opens for 2021 tax returns. It will be added later in an update.)


Make sure your father does not claim you as a dependent for 2021.
