An education tax credit allows you to deduct your qualifying educational expenses. The amount of credit you get depends on what type of educational credit you qualify for. Please view the IRS Education Credit Comparison Chart to determine which education credit you qualify for. You must not be claimed as a dependent to qualify for an education credit.
