If you received the American Opportunity Credit for 2021, it will appear on Line 9 of your Form 1040 and on Form 8863, Line 8.

The other thing to check --- if you were claimed as a dependent by a parent----you need to know if someone else used the AOC when they claimed you in a past year.  The AOC can be used a total of four times including the times it may have been used on the return of someone who claimed you as a dependent.
