How do I check how much I spent on college tuition and other materials?

I'm not sure the total amount I put into attending my college courses for last year.

If you already have the full $4,000 tuition expenses going towards the AOTC, then the extras won't matter.

Your receipts from purchases, bank records, credit card statements, etc will show what you paid. I recommend you create a folder and keep up with all your education expenses moving forward.

If you are audited, you will need to be able to produce those documents. It is easier to just keep up with them. If you do not have proof, you should not be claiming the expense.
