Question

How do I deduct a car that was donated for high school training and not to be sold? Do not have a Form 1098-C but a letter from the school.

The questions  on the page "Tell Us About Your 1098-C" don't allow me to choose that the car is donated for training.

If the school included in the letter that they intend to use the vehicle and not sell it, you may use the Fair Market Value as the amount of the charity deduction.

What is included in the letter matters depending on the value of the vehicle.

Below is a link that lists what must be in the letter from the school.

If the letter has the necessary information, you can by-pass the 1098-C and enter the Fair Market Value. You'll need documentation of how you came up with that value as well.
