How do I write-off education expenses for a future business that I'm not earning any money from this tax year?

I am have been training for a couple years for a new career, but have not been practicing yet or making any income. How do I write off those expenses? Can I take some of the expenses this year, and defer the rest to another year?

There is no deduction unless your school is an eligible education institution for the Lifetime Learning Credit. Your school can tell you.
