The university only listed grants on the 1098-T, and billed for 2018 tuition later. How to report this?

You can add those expenses if they were actually paid in 2018 but are not on your Form 1098-T by following the directions below:

  1. Open (continue) your return, if you're not already in it.
  2. In TurboTax, select and search for 1098T and then select the Jump to link in the search results.
  3. Answer any education questions that pop up (enrollment status, name of school, and so forth).
    • If you land on the Education Expenses Summary screen, select Edit next to the student in question, then edit the tuition item.
  4. At the Did you or your dependent(s) get a 1098-T? screen, answer Yes and continue.
  5. After you enter your Form 1098-T, it will ask you if you have any expenses not on a Form 1098-T. You can enter that then.
