I am a full time high school student and had a job. How do I get past the occupation question?

You don't. Just enter Student.

The occupation you enter does not affect your tax return.

You can either put student or a description of what you do at your part-time job (i.e. cashier, associate, etc.). You can put both, but the amount of space is limited. The IRS instruction does say enter your occupation(s) which indicates it may be more than one.
