Question

I am a full-time student covered by my parents' Marketplace plan. I contribute nothing to this. I see that Turbo Tax calculated a tax break for me. This seems incorrect.

I don't understand why they give me a tax break for the healthcare when I put in that my percentage is 0. I tried not entering the 1095-A but my return was rejected by the IRS because I am listed on my parents' form.

Are you listed as a dependent on your parents’ tax return? If you are, you won't have any health insurance questions to answer on your own return. TurboTax will tell you Since someone is claiming you on their 2024 taxes, you don't have to complete Health Insurance.

Make sure to report on  your return that you can be claimed as a dependent.

If you are not a dependent on your parents return, select your situation from the link below:

I'm on my parents' 1095-A form. What do I do on my return?
